Phoenix Education Centre NI - February 2026 Newsletter

As we move further into 2026, February has been another positive and productive month at Phoenix Education Centre NI. Building on the strong start to the year in January, we have continued to support individuals across East Belfast through education, mentoring, and community engagement.

This month has been marked by steady progress, growing confidence among our learners, and continued collaboration with partners. We remain committed to providing inclusive, accessible opportunities that empower individuals to take meaningful steps forward in their lives.

February Highlights At Phoenix Education Centre

February has seen continued engagement across all of our programmes, with learners making excellent progress in their courses and personal development journeys. Attendance and participation have remained strong, reflecting the motivation and commitment of those involved.

Our accredited training programmes have continued to provide learners with opportunities to gain valuable skills in areas such as employability, wellbeing, and personal development. Tutors have worked closely with participants to ensure they feel supported and encouraged, helping them to overcome challenges and build confidence in their abilities.

In addition to structured learning, the centre has maintained its role as a supportive and welcoming environment. Learners have benefited not only from educational opportunities but also from the sense of belonging and connection that Phoenix fosters. These relationships are key to building resilience and supporting long-term success.

February has also included ongoing partnership work, ensuring that our services remain aligned with the needs of the community and that we continue to reach those who can benefit most from our support.

Spotlight: Building Confidence And Creating Pathways

This month’s spotlight focuses on the importance of confidence-building within education. At Phoenix Education Centre NI, we recognise that for many individuals, returning to learning is a significant step that requires encouragement, patience, and support.

Our programmes are designed not only to deliver qualifications but also to help individuals believe in their own potential. Through tailored support, positive reinforcement, and a flexible approach to learning, we create an environment where people feel safe to grow and develop.

Throughout February, we have seen learners take important steps forward, whether that is contributing more in group settings, completing coursework, or setting new personal goals. These moments, while sometimes small, are powerful indicators of progress and form the foundation for future achievement.

By focusing on the whole person, Phoenix continues to create pathways that lead not only to education and employment but also to improved wellbeing and self-confidence.

CEO Highlights - February 2026

February has been another active and impactful month for our CEO, Emma Shaw, with a continued focus on partnership building, representation, and programme delivery across the community and wider sector.

Emma remained closely engaged in collaborative work, attending consortium meetings and connecting with Queen’s University mentee students, helping to strengthen pathways between education and community-based support. She also met with local Jobs and Benefits offices, ensuring Phoenix Education Centre NI continues to align its provision with employment support services.

At a strategic level, Emma represented the organisation and the wider community sector at several key forums. This included attending the Department for Communities event on the sustainability of the community sector, as well as Belfast City Council’s Economy Board meeting in her role as a VCSE panel representative. She also participated in the Council’s “Inclusive Futures” seminar, contributing to important discussions around long-term development and inclusion.

Community engagement remained a strong priority throughout the month. Emma took part in South & East Housing Community Network meetings and ongoing tension monitoring work, ensuring that local voices and emerging issues continue to be recognised and addressed.

February also included important developments in programme delivery and quality. Essential Skills exams were successfully hosted on site, while delivery of a tender project in Mid Ulster continued to progress. Emma also supported the delivery of the EVAWG programme with a women’s group, reinforcing Phoenix’s commitment to addressing key social issues through education and engagement.

Finally, Emma undertook visits to Castlebar, Co. Mayo and Citywise Education in Dublin to build and strengthen relationships, sharing learning and exploring opportunities for collaboration beyond Northern Ireland.

Emma’s work this month reflects a strong balance of local impact and wider sector engagement, ensuring Phoenix Education Centre NI continues to grow its reach, influence, and effectiveness in supporting communities.

Community Corner

Community engagement remains central to our work, and February has provided further opportunities to strengthen these important connections. Phoenix Education Centre NI continues to act as a hub for individuals and families, offering support that extends beyond the classroom.

We have maintained close links with local organisations and partners, ensuring a joined-up approach to addressing the needs of the community. These relationships allow us to provide more comprehensive support and create pathways for individuals to access additional services where needed.

Within the centre, there has been a strong sense of peer support, with learners encouraging one another and sharing their experiences. This collaborative environment helps to reduce isolation and fosters a culture of mutual respect and understanding.

As always, we are proud to be part of a community that values connection, support, and opportunity.

Coming Up In March 2026

As we look ahead to March, we are excited to continue building on the strong progress made in the early months of the year at Phoenix Education Centre NI. With momentum growing across our programmes, the focus will remain on supporting learners to achieve their goals while expanding opportunities for new participants to get involved.

We will continue to welcome new learners into the centre, offering a supportive and inclusive environment where individuals can begin or return to their educational journeys. Our team is also working to further develop the programmes we offer, ensuring that courses remain relevant, accessible, and responsive to community needs.

March will also see continued collaboration with local organisations and partners, helping to strengthen pathways of support for individuals and families across East Belfast. By working together, we aim to enhance the impact of our services and ensure that no one is left behind.

We encourage everyone to stay connected with us through our website and social media channels for updates on upcoming courses, events, and opportunities. We look forward to another positive and productive month ahead.
